Common Eye Conditions

Iritis

This condition is also known as anterior uveitis it can appear similar to conjunctivitis but is very different, it is an inflammation of the iris. The redness of the eye can appear like the bloodshot appearance of conjunctivitis but the vessels that are full of blood are in a deeper layer of the eye than the conjuntiva.

There is a deeper (rather than itchy) discomfort and the vision will be affected, often people will talk of mistiness in the vision.

This needs attention at the eye hospital and early intervention is always best. It is a condition that can often recur and patients are often told to just contact the hospital directly when they are discharged following their first attack.
