Sponsorship at Wallworks
We feel that we are a part of our local community

and as such aim to support the community where we can. This can take many forms and have in the past supported local schools and sports clubs, helped fund a ‘Rainbow’ group at a local church and try to play a part in our local residents group. Due to the sporting interest of most of the practice team, in particular Ian Wallwork’s interest in swimming, we have and do sponsor local sportsmen and women.
Our main support has been given in the form of providing and looking after contact lens provision for our sportspeople although we have offered other support at times.
If you think that you have an interest that you feel that we could help with
please come and talk, or write, to us. We want to support our local area and obviously have a limit to our budget but are always willing to consider suggestions.
Our first beneficiary was a young Walkden dancer, we started when Julie Fryer was still competing mainly locally and carried along with her until she won the World Amateur Latin American Dance title. She was previously having troubles with contact lenses which were necessary to go with her sometimes minimalist costumes and with Bausch & Lomb’s support we managed to achieve a successful lens and wearing schedule.
We were particularly proud to be able to support Wayne Spinks. Wayne is a remarkable role model who was found to have an untreatable blinding condition in his early teens. Despite losing his sight in his early years he met the challenge and became a successful athlete representing Britain at the European Blind Games, just imagine the character needed to run extremely fast, by any standard, when you can’t see where you’re going. Any athlete who achieves the highest level deserves praise but when it is done despite other problems then the praise is earned even more.
“We were proud to sponsor Olympic swimmers Adrian Turner and James Hickman during their highly successful careers. They have both now retired from competitive swimming and we wish them well in their new occupations.”
Our present ‘stable’ of sports stars consists of two swimmers and a squash player and a Squash Team.
