We stock a variety of contact lens solutions from different providers. We will advise you during your contact lens consultation which solution will best suit your lenses and your individual needs.

Daily contact lenses require no solution.  2 weekly / monthly lenses need solution to clean and disinfect the contact lenses at the end of the day. This reduces the risk of infection, and makes your lenses comfortable over their lifetime by reducing any deposits.

 

Multi-purpose Contact Lens Solutions

With these solutions you can clean, rinse and store your contact lenses. Some even contain a lubricant to improve eye comfort! Used correctly they provide a low hassle flexible way to care for your contact lenses and protect your eyes from infection.

Biotrue

This solution from Bausch & Lomb is designed to work like your eyes, matching the tear film’s natural pH, uses a lubricant naturally found in the body (hyaluronan) and keeping certain beneficial tear proteins active. This product is designed to give excellent disinfection, while also being gentle to the your eye.

Synergi

This solution from Sauflon is effectively preservative free as its active ingredient Oxipol combines cleaning, disinfecting and lubricating agents and decomposes to oxygen, salts and water after cleaning the lens. This solution is optimised for new generation Silicon Hydrogel contact lenses and includes an antimicrobial lens case.

Optifree Replenish

This solution from Alcon uses a system called ‘TearGlyde’ to allow the lens surface to keep a thin layer of moisture for improved comfort during wear. A disinfection system protects this solution from infection.

Optifree Puremoist.

Alcons’s more advanced solution provides up to 16 hours of lens moisture when wearing thanks to its ‘HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix’. This barrier also prevents lipid build-up and removes protein deposits, maintaining comfort thorough the month. Its enhanced dual disinfection formula is effective for all soft contact lenses.

 

Peroxide based Solutions

Hydrogen Peroxide is a very effective contact lens cleaner. As it is an irritant, it causes significant discomfort when it comes into contact with the eyes. Contact lens solutions which use Hydrogen Peroxide either have a Multi Step system, cleaning and then rinsing the lenses, or have a 1 step system with a catalyst in the lens case which breaks up the Peroxide into harmless saline.

Multi

This 1 step Sauflon Solution contains 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, a non-ionic surfactant cleaner and a lubricating agent to enhance wearer comfort. It needs at least 6 hours for the catalyst to neutralise the solution into preservative free saline solution, making it ideal to disinfect your contact lenses overnight.

EasySept

This 1 step Bausch & Lomb Solution contains 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and needs at least 6 hours for the catalyst to neutralise the solution into preservative free saline solution, making it ideal to disinfect your contact lenses overnight.

AoSept

This 1 step Alcon Solution contains 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and needs at least 6 hours for the catalyst to neutralise the solution into preservative free saline solution, making it ideal to disinfect your contact lenses overnight.

Hard Contact Lens (RGP) Solutions

As Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) lenses are typically used daily for at least 1 year Peroxide Based Cleaning Systems are recommended for their Optimal Cleaning.

Boston Cleaning / Conditioner

Bausch & Lomb’s RGP solution, this is designed  as a 2 step system, with a specially formulated Cleaner which removes dirt and stubborn deposits, containing a special ingredient to visibly tint the RGP so when you rinse the lens thoroughly with fresh tap water, you can be confident it has been removed. Your RGP can then be soaked and disinfected overnight with the Boston Conditioning Solution which also wets the lens for insertion in the morning.
